Punjab will have a "Khichdi" government : Angad Singh

Punjab will be governed by a "Khichdi" administration, says Angad singh. Angad Singh, 31, is a man who has been through a lot. He was the Congress's big hope and the youngest MLA in Punjab when he was elected in 2017 from Nawanshahr. His parents were both Congress members from Punjab's same seat.

But, in an unexpected turn of events, Angad was denied a ticket by the Congress last week. He claims he was fired because he refused to engage in "mudslinging" against his wife, Aditi Singh, who is currently a BJP candidate in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. Aditi, a Congress MLA, challenged Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to run against her in a News18 interview on January 23. A week later, Angad's name was no longer on the Congress' Punjab ballot.

They (Congress) had asked me to do something utterly unethical, something that went against my moral beliefs, something that went against my character, and I told them straight out that I couldn't because I had to look into my own eyes in the mirror. Basically, it was mudslinging. What kind of relationship I have with my family members is entirely personal and has no bearing on the party. But just because I don't get along with any of my family members doesn't mean I'll resort to mudslinging—not that's Angad Singh," he says in an interview with News18 in Nawanshahr during a frantic campaigning period. He is now running as an independent candidate in this election.

According to Angad, Congress acted hypocritically by making a personal decision rather than a professional one. "I believe Congress has always been a secular and liberal party that empowers women to speak their minds; it is something they have talked about for a long time." As a result, if a person makes her own judgments, she should be respected. It's quite difficult; unfortunately, the work I've done in the last five years, including development and how I served the people of my district, has been completely ignored, and my personal issues have become the basis for their decision. I had also brought the facts to their attention in order to inform them of what was going on in my life, and I had urged them not to do this .

The seat of Nawanshahr has long been affiliated with Angad's family. "Both my dad and I have worked for Congress and are members of the Congress family. What happened was regrettable, and it was not a choice I made. UP is a separate state from Punjab and has nothing to do with it. "Why can't different members of the same family have different ideologies?" he asks News18. "They insulted me by pulling my family matter into it," Angad says to a gathering in his native Sanoh village, where he inaugurated his poll office. This situation should not have been brought to my attention outside of my house." He now refers to it as a "war between Delhi and Nawanshahr" as well as a "war between good and wrong."

He claims that this was the sole seat in the district that the Congress was certain of winning, but that it has now been lost as well.

"They weakened themselves, not me, by refusing to give me a ticket." Charanjit Singh Channi was weakened as a result of their actions. From the bottom of my heart, I wanted to see Channi as CM because he performed some excellent job. "After I was refused a ticket, all local officials in Nawanshahr resigned from the Congress," Angad informs Sources.

The Congress hand emblem is still emblazoned around the constituency, but Angad reminds voters not to vote for the hand but for his auto-rickshaw symbol at all public meetings. "I didn't quit Congress; rather, it abandoned me." "However, there must be some benefit in this," he adds.

Satvir Palli Jhikki, a Captain Amarinder Singh supporter who received a ticket from the previous CM's party before switching to the Congress, has been handed a ticket. "He's an outcast." Jhikki was in charge of Banga for four years, during which time the Congress lost every local election. "When Captain created his own party, he endorsed him," Angad told voters. He goes on to say that he was never friends with Captain, but that he tried his hardest to help Nawanshahr prosper. "Punjab will be a hung legislature." "I believe that all parties would need 3-4 or more MLAs, and that Nawanshahr will get its due once it chooses me," Angad says. "It'll be a khichdi sarkar and tadka," will be added to it from Nawanshahr."
